Come and Join Us

The Middletown High School Stadium will host the last Varsity Football game at Knights Field on October 31st, 2008. It will be Senior night! The school will take this opportunity to recognize the seniors of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad, the Marching Knights Band and the Varsity Football team.
The Stadium Committee will take this opportunity to recognize all of the contibutors to the capital campaign thus far and encourage new contributors to complete the project.
The Middletown American Verterans (AmVets) will present a special color guard to honor all veterans and recognize those in particular who graduated from Middletown High School. The current list of serving or veteran service men and and women has been supplied by the current MHS student body. If you wish to ensure your MHS Graduate service person is recognized please email their name, year of graduation and their military branch to MHSStadiumProject.

We need you to finish this!
Now that the fall sports season is ending and the winter sports have begun the committee will not have an opportunity to touch the stadium again until next spring when the last spring team sport has completed it's schedule of games. The committee is using this time to secure the 1.9 million dollars in pledges it needs to get the funding to finish the project we started.

Thank You

The Middletown High School Stadium Committee thank these special contributors without whose help this project would not have reached this successful state of progress. The field was dedicated at the first Varsity Football home game of the 2008 season against the Century Knights. Fireworks accented the dedication of the field now called the 'Knights Field'.

Knight's Quest Community Kick Off

The campaign to raise the 3.6 million dollars needed to renovate the entire Middletown High School Stadium has been named the 'Knight's Quest'. Although the band and cheerleaders never took the field to perform they were there to show their support for the Knight's Quest as were all of the teams who will use the stadium this fall. Each team was introduced by Middletown High School's athletic director, Mr. Tim Ambrose. The MHS Stadium committee delivered it's message to the those in attendance.

The Committee is attempting to complete a full stadium renovation, details of which are avaiable in the brochures at the school and through the MHS Stadium website at http://www.mhsstadiumproject.com/. The plan is to have new restroom facilities, an ADA compliant entrance, stadium seating, and a new conssession shop constructed and open in time for the Fall 2009 season.

Mr. Keith Powell, Committee chairman, explained that the the progress to-date had been made possible by an immediate and overwhelming support from local businesses in the Middletown area in addition to contributions from community leaders. Mr. Powell explained that this was the initial Leadership drive of the campain. With the donations pledged to-dae the committee was able to secure a loan from Federick County Bank to complete the renovations up to this point.

Mr. Rusty Strine explained how the field was made possible by the management and crews from Morgan Keller, R. F. Kline, Remsburg Paving, North Star Foundation, Warner Industrial, Wolfe and Sons, and Norhtcraft. He delivered sincere thanks on bahalf of the committee and the school for the involvemnet of these companys in the Quest.

Other speakers included Mr. Jay Berno, Principal of Middletown High School. Mr. Berno joins MHS this year and has supported the committee’s efforts to manage the Knight's Quest to reality. He was impressed with the response and pace that the stadium project has set to-date. The committee's target is to complete all further renovations by the fall season of 2009. The committee will cease fund raising effort by February 2009 in order to meet this goal.

Mr. Mark Gaver, co-chairman of the Stadium committee has long been affiliated with the high school since his playing days on the the high school football team. Mr. Gaver stressed that the project is not complete and that the committee was now asking the community to help make the Quest a reality. The number of people who attened was lower than the committee had hoped. The knight's Quest will be represented at the Middletown Heritage days on September 27th. Please follow the Knight's Quest sign in the Heritage Parade that begins at 10:00am. and come down to the Knight's Quest booth on Main Street on Saturday September 27th!

The 24th Middletown Heritage Days http://www.middletown.md.us/ is an all day event held on Main Street in Downtown Historic Middletown which features historic encampments from the 18th Century, Heritage Children's Games and Crafts, live music and great food. After the 24th Annual Heritage Parade, come to the MHS Stadium Committee booth and get all the information and your questions answered. Please consider helping the Knight's Quest become a completed reality. The athletes and musicians that use the facilities deserve a better showcase!

Don't let it end with the field!

We are past the 1/3 mark and climbing!
Open Field Community Kick-off 9/4 @ 6:30PM!!!

Just think, for less than a fast food meal a week, in the same amount of time it will take a student to go from the eighth grade to their senior year in high school, you can fund the final renovations to the MHS stadium. That's four dollars a weeks over five years.
We need the proper facilities to show case the quality events that MHS students participates in. We need to be able to show off our students at the state level by hosting the events right here in our own back yard. Let's give the high school participants the home field advantage. We need you to finish this properly.
Renovations will be completed by this time next year regardless of where the project is. Come and get all of the details September 4th, 6:30PM in the stadium!

Middletown Stadium Goes Permanently Green

Ready for the new 2008-2009 sport seasons the Middletown Stadium has gone permanently green. The MHS High School and local athletic associations can now use the field continuously. The new Field Turf playing surface was completed on 7/25. There is no special shoe requirement to play on the FieldTurf field. The same athletic shoe used on grass fields can be used on the new surface. Only drinking water will be allowed on the field. No sport drinks, food, candy, gum, sodas or sunflower seeds will be allowed on the playing surface. And as you know, all Frederick County Schools are tobacco free. Check the high School sports schedule for the first high school teams to take the field at http://mhs.fcps.org/athletics.html and the local
Middletown Valley Athletic Association at http://www.mvaasports.com/.
